A Milestone, a Reflection, and an Announcement

The Milestone

This is my 50th post! I started this blog in December and the ball has finally started to roll. I'm beginning to make some bloggy friends, which makes me very happy, and I've actually been getting comments somewhat regularly. I've also been fleshing out my blogroll, so be sure to take a peak at the right sidebar and check out anybody you don't already know!

When I began blogging, I never would have imagined how much fun and how time consuming it would be, nor how addictive it is! But I have really been loving the time I spend spilling my thoughts out and reading what others have to say.

The Reflection

Today we finally found a new church home. We've been in this town since October and I've really missed hearing God's word and enjoying fellowship with others. Oh, it was so nice!

It's perfect timing too, considering we're just entering the Lenten season. This is supposed to be a time of focus and sacrifice, remembering the ultimate sacrifice that Christ made for us.

I've been really stumped about what I should give up for Lent this year. When you consider that Christ gave up His life for us, everything else just sorta pales in comparison. So, I've been trying to think of something that would really hit me hard.

Hmmmm...

Something that is such a huge part of my life that it's absence would leave a gaping hole.

Hmmmm...

Something that has captured so much of my attention that it has left little time for the things that really matter (my home, my husband, my faith).

Hmmmm...

The Announcement

If you haven't guessed it already, I've decided to give up blogging for Lent. I know, I'm a few days late, but for some reason it took a good sermon at church today for the obvious to finally hit me.

Even as I'm typing this, I've been having second thoughts: Isn't there something else I could give up? What if nobody remembers me when I come back? Will it be like starting over again? Do I have to? Which just serves as confirmation to me that I probably am making the right decision.

Oh, blogosphere, I will miss you. I'm sure I will think of you often, but I will be back come Easter.

Ahhhh.

I can't do it!

Ok.

Publish.

You gave up blogging for lent? What a fantastic IDEA! You are so right, blogging is so addictive and time-consuming. I have learned, like everything, I like it more when I do it less.

Plus there's that whole sleeping and eating thing. :)

Well, I think it's certainly a wonderfully appropriate gift you are sacrificing for Lent considering how much time you spend doing this and how enjoyable it is for you. I'm very proud of you, but I will really miss reading the blogs. I've grown so accustomed to reading and sharing them that I really can't wait till Easter. It has me thinking I should really think about something a little more serious to "give up" also. Maybe mail orders, Wal-Mart, Consignment Shops, and info- mercials. Yes, I think, as difficult as that will be for me, I will do it!!!!!!! Starting now!!!Well, not Wal-Mart but I will give up the mail orders, consignment shops and info- mercials.
